The Other Realm

Artist Statement

I’m currently creating an ongoing series of both photographs and illustrations  called The Other Realm. This series introduces you to the fanciful part of my  imagination where all of my creations live. My artwork is a combination of hand-drawn  illustrations and digital photographs. I usually draw and photograph while I’m spending  time outdoors and relaxing in quiet areas. It’s essential for me to spend quality time  alone with my surroundings because it helps me cope with them. I value the  importance of spending time outdoors admiring the aesthetic of nature and how it  allows my imagination to flourish. I enjoy photographing the sky and everything that  comes from it such as the clouds and sunlight. The sky is my favorite part of nature and  it will always fascinate me. . I get lost in my thoughts easily, and I always dream about  the possibility of other worlds beyond this earth. The world I have created is where I  can freely wander and connect with both the conscious and subconscious part of my  mind. My characters are personified versions of my thoughts and they act as a guide to  communicate with me. In this world, you'll encounter bizarre creatures who live in this  unusual environment. Their main habitat is in the sky on the clouds, but they come to  visit this earth where you can find them roaming grassy fields, on the beaches, inside  rooms, etc. These characters are seen in many situations such as happily playing  around, getting into conflict, relaxing, or doing other strange things...

Logan Z. Tansey (b. 1998) is an illustrator and photographer from Dartmouth,  MA. He explores the relationship between fantasy and reality using both mediums. His  artwork is known for being whimsical and thought-provoking, displaying a wide range  of powerful emotions such as joyfulness, misery, paranoia, and everything in between.  The world he lives in is black and white, which is the reason why his illustrations are  drawn with black ink. The only colors you'll see are the photographs. His drawing style  is simple yet detailed, creating bold line work using pen.
